KiwiVM control panel adds support for Passkeys and Security Keys

Tuesday, December 10, 2024

We are pleased to announce the latest round of updates to the KiwiVM control panel, introducing additional authentication options to enhance the security and convenience of your login process.

With this update, users can now leverage passkeys and compatible security keys, such as Google Titan, YubiKey or similar, for streamlined, hardware-backed authentication for an extra layer of protection.

Additionally, passkey support now enables biometric authentication, allowing you to log in using a fingerprint or facial recognition on supported devices. This not only improves security but also offers a more seamless and user-friendly experience.

You can enable these features in the KiwiVM control panel.

Thursday, September 12, 2024

We've just rolled out a major update to the KiwiVM control panel, focusing on security and UI. Here's what we've done:

Full code audit: We've reviewed the entire code base and replaced obsolete code with new, more robust code.

Hardened authentication: Improved session handling to lock things down tighter.

Strict CSP: A Content Security Policy is now in place to mitigate common web-based attack vectors (XSS, clickjacking, etc).

UI and flow improvements: We made tweaks to the interface for a smoother experience.

Network upgrades completed in Hong Kong

Tuesday, August 20, 2024

We have completed a series of network upgrades in two Hong Kong datacenters HK_3 and HK_8. We have added more network capacity which would allow us to offer even better speed and latency at these locations.

All VMs located in these locations will automatically enjoy the benefits without the need to perform any action by the client.

KiwiVM: Added ability to temporarily restore a suspended VM

Wednesday, May 29, 2024

We have released an update to our KiwiVM control panel.

This update allows our customers to temporarily restore a VM which was suspended due to monthly data over-usage, without the need to purchase a service upgrade.

With this new feature, even when you use up all allotted monthly bandwidth, you would still be able to temporarily resume the VM and access your data, for example, in case of an emergency.

KiwiVM: Optimized datacenter migrations

Wednesday, May 15, 2024

We have released an update to our KiwiVM control panel.

This update significantly reduces data transfer during VM migrations between datacenters.

With this new feature, only occupied disk sectors are transferred, which means much less data is moved. As we account for all data transfers, this improvement will result in lower data usage for our customers.
